Hi all,
I want to upgrade my monitor as I got a second amd hd7950. My current monitor is an ASUS vx238h and I was thinking of upgrading to either 1440p or 1600p monitor (my Gpu’s don’t support 4k). Basically I have been looking at monitors and the one that seems to jump out is the ASUS PB278Q though there is the PG278Q coming out soon. That monitor is not an IPS however and my Gpu’s are amd and not Nvidia so am I correct in saying that that would be wasted in my build as I would not be able to utilize the G-sync tech?

Just as a quick note I don’t play that competitively so having a very high Frame Rate is not such an issue I would just like a monitor that looks the best so with this in mind I was assuming that an IPS monitor would be better for me than a TN, is this correct or does the TN produce an image just as good?

Lastly do you have any recommendation on what monitor I should get?

Thanks in advance I reall appreciate any/all advise you can give.

My current Build:
Asrock Z77 extreme 4 Motherboard
I5-3570k OC to 4.4 Ghz
Gigabyte HD 7950 CF
Corsair H100i Water cooler

Get the PG278Q you will utilize it just fine even without using G-SYNC.

The PG278Q is a TN panel so would it not look quite as nice as an IPS panel or is there no real difference at all? Thanks as this is the one thing thats holding me back.

Does anyone else think I should wait and get the PG278Q monitor?

Thanks again.

i doubt you would notice much of a difference as that is a really high end gaming monitor and there's advantages TN has over IPS such as high HZ and 1ms response time that IPS has a hard time matching.
