The title says it all. Is i7 worth it. I am going to be using my pc for gaming and general use (no video editing)
I am going to get a GTX 780 Ti along with the i5. I could get it with the i7 for £120 more or go with a GTX 770 along with an i7 at the same price as my current choice of CPU and GPU.
I am very confused...
All help is appreciated
Thanks

Whenever you're not overclocking, you should go for the Xeon E3-1230V3 in my humble opinion.

Reasoning: The Xeon is practically an i7-4770, but it's marketed as a 'server processor'. There are a few differences:

1. The Xeon supports ECC memory (this is a plus, albeit an unnecessary one).
2. It has no integrated graphics (doesn't matter since you're going to be using a dedicated GPU).
3. It has a 0.1GHz slower clock speed (~3% difference in performance).
4. It's about $50 cheaper.
