So i am buying a new gaming pc and here are the specs, i want to make sure i can use this to play games for like 3 years before upgrading

CPU - FX 8350 4.0 ghz 8 core processor
GPU - R9 280x (sapphire dual x)
RAM - 8 gb
Motherboard - msi 970a-g46
Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo
and other than these specs don't know what else i need

It would be great if someone could review this and figure out if its good enough for gaming

Solution

Yeah, should be doable.
I would change the motherboard to the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P or any non-MSI 990FX board, MSI AM3+ boards aren't that great.

Make sure that you are getting 2x4GB sticks of RAM, this way it will run in dual channel and be faster.

You will also need a power supply. I recommend a 550W+ one from XFX, Antec, Seasonic or Corsair (TX, AX, and HX series only).

And of course, if you don't have a hard drive, you'll need to get one. Anything with 1TB of storage, 64MB of cache, and an RPM of 7200 is fine.

Looks good otherwise.

So can the R9 280X max out upcoming titles like Dragon Age Inquisition,Assassin's Creed Unity etc.?

Yes, it should be able to max out pretty much everything you throw at it.
