Hi,

I'm having an issue with the above board, lightning recently struck something in our street and electricity must have travelled through the Ethernet cable or electrics and has caused my computer to crash.

When booting up again I was prompter to re-install many of the drivers of the board which I did but no matter what I do I can't get the network adaptor working again, I tried reinstalling the drivers. I re-installed windows but no joy.

Luckily the board is within warranty but the technical advisor suggested following the manual to flash the bios before returning.

I can't find the instructions to do this unfortunately. Can someone explain what I need to do to flash the bios please? They said something about downloading something from the gigabyte website and dragging and dropping it somewhere, any know what this is please? I thought it would be pretty straight forward but not for me apparently!

The board is revision 1.0

Thanks in advance.

Just taking a stab at this - flashing the bios is essentially overwriting the bios with the same or upgraded version. The theory here is that something in the bios may have been affected and you are simply replacing the bios information.

First - aquire the same version of bios or an upgraded version of bios from the board manufacturer. This will likely need to be stored on a USB drive or a local drive and aquired from some other computer - as you don't have networking capabiltiy.

Then go into bios under the utilities and upgrade your bios. even if it says it is the same bios - proceed with the upgrade to overwrite what is in place.

good luck.
