I AM NOT a Tech Guru - I am a rank newbie, so please excuse any ignorance shown. I am building my first computer (for photo editing - NO video editing). I have decided on an ASUS Z97 Sabertooth Mark 1 MoBo, and am waiting for Intel's i7-4790K processor to be released. There will be NO gaming on this computer. My question - given the processor and MoBo chosen, will I need to purchase a video card, or will the Z97 combo I've chosen support video? I've heard conflicting things - that it will support it, but it's still better to buy a video card because it will take some of the load off the processor, etc. Is this true? Any answers, info, and shared knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

The 4790k will have an IGP, so you do not need to buy a GPU.
As for a performance increase with a dedicated GPU, There won't be one, if you have a dedicated GPU your IGP is simply turned off.
The IGP is simply added to the CPU, so the worst thing that could happen is maybe more heat output (IDK for sure about the heat part)
