My Current System consists of:|

Graphics Card: asus geforce gtx 760 directcu ii oc 2gb
Power supply: 500watts
Cpu: Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.92GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3
Case: Antec P-183
Ram: 8gb gskill ripjaws

Atm i have a high powered gpu which i think is getting limited but my shitty cpu i don't know too much about this stuff but i was was hoping someone on here could help me sort out some sort of upgrade at a minimal cost meaning not going overboard on cpu or motherboard and if possible not changing case or power supply thank you so much i would appreciate any help i can get thanks again !!

Thank you for all the responses!!
The thing i'm ultimately trying to solve here is not just for this but this is what got me thinking.

My friends system runs "Watch_dogs" perfectly in ultra we both have the same gpu ram and power supply "if the ram makes a difference?" but he has recently updated his cpu and motherboard from what i can remember the updated parts were
Motherboard: ASRock (X79)? Extreme 4
An an appropriately powerful i7 cpu...

sorry i can't give very detailed description on that atm but what im trying to get at our systems are pretty much the same age except his upgraded motherboard and cpu but he gets "Ultra" in watch_dogs with 60+fps and i get 30 fps with huge frame drops and laggy sound in "Low" not sure if this was a good example but this is the reason i posted on here at first so i thought id update you on what my intentions are of upgrading my pc thank you for all the help i seriously appreciate it

If your gaming that CPU is overkill. The i7 4790 and the i5 4570 will preform almost identically to one another when gaming. Only if you are doing 3D art/photoshop you will notice a difference.

Well if you decide to get a better CPU or GPU you will need to at least upgrade your PSU as well. The base speed of your CPU is not the best but from the looks of it OC'ing seems to be a good option but even then I think you still would need to get a better PSU.

1. Get a better PSU, 600W for now but if you want to not have to worry about it for awhile then get a 700+W PSU.

2. OC your current CPU if you have not already, to help increase performance.

3. GPU upgrade: EVGA GeForce GTX780 SuperClocked w/EVGA ACX Cooler 3GB GDDR5 384bit ($503 @ Amazon)

EVGA GeForce GTX770 SuperClocked with EVGA ACX Cooler ($347 @ Amazon)
