I have a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-78LMT-S2P with an AMD FX6350 and 8 gigs of Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24). I have a Good 250gb SSD and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 running Windows 8.1 Pro.

In games like Planetside 2, it doesn't run as fast as I think it should. I think it should run on Ultra settings and get good frame rates. Do you think its possible that its the older Mobo that is holding things back? It has no 6GB SATA ports, it was a hand me down motherboard. Do you think a more modern mobo that supports this CPU would see a big increase in performance? When I play with the FPS meter running, it usually shows the CPU as the bottleneck, so I was thinking that the CPU is very modern, it could be the mobo holding it back.

Thanks for the info.

So, what is the solution? I was waiting for the new intel chips to come out this fall and do a hand-me-down from my main rig (I5-2500K OCed to 4.4ghz) and just trash the AMD. Or, is there another solution? Should I OC the AMD chip? Planetside 2 is almost playable, but I really am spoiled with my main rig (the above mentioned CPU and AMD 7970ghz, 16 gigs of ram). Any advice?

Thanks again!
