How much ram would be required for future games for 4 years? I was looking at a laptop and it had a choice for 32gb of ram but I didn't think that was necessary. So how much ram will games require at 1080 or maybe 4k (if resolution affects ram) for 4 years? Will buying a 32gb laptop or desktop even last long enough for games to require 32gb of ram? What is the recommended size of ram for someone who is not going to upgrade anything in it for 4 years?

8GB will likely be just fine, for gaming, even 4 years from now.

I agree that 8GB is likely fine but that's for now.... in the future I think 8GB will be the minimum for gaming and 16GB the place you want to really be at. Just look at Watch Dogs for example... the recommended is 6GB of available memory so once you add in Windows you're already near 8GB! I personally collected data on memory usage while playing and reached about 7.2GB and I currently have 16GB. So IMO if you're doing anything other than gaming then use 8GB for future non game related stuff. Shoot I still remember when most thought 2GB was more than enough and 1GB was minimum.

8g is the gaming sweet spot. You will never use 32g unless you are a developer. ram really isnt that important anyway. Heck you can game just fine on 4g or even less.

This game is the most un-optimized game released in the last two-three years. In my opinion, it needs another year in the oven. You are referencing a console developed game ported to PC that apparently needs 6GB of system RAM on a PC. It is one of the worst ports ever but is par for the course, for Ubisoft.

The PS4 and XBone both have what.... 8GB? I believe they are on 7 year life cycles or so which is fairly close to 2019-2020?

Oh I fully agree with you it's terribly optimized to the point it's not even funny but I was only using that as an example.
