will a cpu for a 988 socket work on a 989 socket

I HAVE A TOSHIBA QOSMIO X505 THE MOTHERBOARD IS A 989. I BOUGHT A PROCESSOR THAT SAYS INTEL CORE I5-2410M 2.30GHZ- SOCKET PGA SOCKET. WAS WONDERING ARE THESE PARTS COMPATIBLE. THANK YOU SO MUCH

It will be safer to only fit it in a motherboard which supports it. I read up that some 989 can support 988 but you cannot take the risk.
There are different types of these models (988A,988B etc) so you don't want to take the chance of damaging the parts.
