Hey, guys. I have Comcast cable internet in my house. The modem and wifi router are in the family room. However, I just bought two new gaming pc's, and they will be in a bedroom on the same floor of the house. I want fast, reliable internet for the pc's. So, should I just move the modem and router to the bedroom, or just run a couple of long ethernet cables from the family room to the bedroom? Will there be a noticeable difference in performance between moving the modem, or just running a long ethernet cord, or is it mostly just a cosmetic issue? Thanks for the help! =)

Solution
Best solution is to run some CAT5 or better wiring from the router location to the rooms you want the systems in. Terminate the wiring at a wall jack and use the new jack to connect with an Ethernet cable of usual length. You can get all the stuff you need from online or even a Radio Shack type store. Very long Ethernet might also cost more. If this is not good then try to relocate the modem to as close to the systems as you can so as to keep the cables to reasonable length (6 ft.). Also check with Comcast as they may be able to set you up wireless/WiFi throughout the house.
