Hello Forum,
I have a non genuine copy of Win7 on my computer. I really don't want to uninstall/reinstall, the computer has been configured with dual language prompts and I don't want to loose that and especially not the files that are on it.

Is there a way to purchase a new key and use it with the current version without doing the latter?

Thanks in advance,

Well I don't know if there is a way, but I wouldn't recommend it since pirated Windows can have all kinds of issues and bugs; A legit key with a fresh install from a legit DVD/USB drive is your best option.

Call Microsoft, and have a credit card handy. In the window that tells you the OS isn't genuine you should be given the option for more details and a number.

Question is how did you end up with a non-genuine copy?

Buy a valid copy, and reinstall.

The vast majority of 'non-genuine' Windows install come preinstalled with all sorts of malware, trojans, etc.
Wipe and reinstall. Unless of course you like your personal data belonging to someone else.
