SSD with 2 Raided HDDs, Optimization/AHCI/RAID

So here's my current system: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/XNJxFT
This is the SSD i already own and want to add: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147193&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

I'm planning to do a complete reformat of my current system and install Windows 8.1 Pro Retail.

What I'd like to do is install the OS on my SSD, and then RAID my two 10kRPM HDDs in RAID0. I've been reading SSD optimization guides and they say that I should configure my HDDs to run as AHCI in the BIOS.

I'm trying to figure out if AHCI also allows me to RAID my drives, as some articles I've read seem to say it does, but It's kind of hard to google a question like this so I'm asking for some help.

Or do I do a software RAID or something since I have Intel?

Solution
set your sata ports to raid mode. Some boards its all sata ports while others allow you to exclude a couple. If you exclude a couple make sure they are sata3/sata6gb ports or don't bother.
Install only your boot SSD onto the lowest numbered intel sata3 port you have. Even in raid mode intel will pass the single drive thru for the windows install to use.

Once windows is installed you can power down, install the hdd's and power back up. Enter the raid bios and configure the hdd's into the raid array of your chosing.
