Help with my 4K Monitor and Videocard Please - crashing games

Hello,

Today I purchased a new videocard (ASUS R9 290) and upon getting home and installing it I realised that I only had an old VGA monitor with the DVI-I adaptor.

Biting the bullet I went out and purchased the Samsung 4K monitor and finally managed to get it all working, after realising that I needed to use my HDMI cable to get 4K resolution.

So, I have a few questions:

1. Obviously at 4K resolution everything is super small, any way to improve that? How do I go about enlarging things (especially on chrome)

2. My games are now crashing when I try to push the resolution up and I am not sure why. MY GPU can definately handle it, and my CPU is an i5-3750.
I can play watch dogs but increasing the resolution above 1920 causes me to be thrown back to the desktop, however watchdogs is still running but I cannot get back in.
Assassins Creed 4 and Diablo 3 are different stories altogether. I don't even have the option to go into the game to change the resolution before I am thrown to the desktop, and once again the games are still running.

Any suggestions?

Thanks very much,

Sean Dugger

radeon drivers are always messy.... i'd download the driver cleaner tool.. and wipe all your AMD drivers out and anything leftover in registry. reboot, install the latest drivers, and before going into any game setup your resolution in windows AND the amd control center.

when you boot into the game it should already be at 4k if the AMD center knows to boot into 4k

I'm wondering if right now it's clashing thinking you only have a 1080p monitor.

as far as everything being small... you can adjust your windows icons/windows sizing to make them bigger... and also setup chrome/firefox to operate in zoomed mode... maybe 130% (so 30% more zoom than usual)

that monitor only support 4k resolution up to 30hz on HDMI.
you need to use displayport to do 4k at 60hz.
so even if your FPS is showing 100, your monitor is only displaying 30fps. that will be very unsmooth!

You google lots of reviews on that monitor and they'll all say that you need displayport.

whether that's the reason for your crashes, i doubt it.

radeon drivers are NOT always messy....... take it somewhere else.

not all programs run at 4k............ the software needs to catch up....... a lot of software needs to catch up. try running alternate res. did you try game mode ( setting in monitor ).

people should wait on buying the 4k monitors.......... however, if you guys do buy them buy the 60Hz models or gaming will be a slide show so to speak..........

lol... well alot of people dont know to do a full uninstall and clean before installing the new driver... and that often leads to driver issues in AMD world.

not all games runat 4k.. that's true... but he's sayin assassin creed 4 wont go into 4k mode... and it absoultely supports 4k.

the monitor he bought IS a true 60hz model... he just needs to use displayport.
