When water cooling a gpu should i get the more expensive version or the cheapest one possible and then put a water block on it after wards?

thats been asked, and there's no definite answer. it depends on the card.

What is the GPU and why are you water cooling it? i assume overclocking it and overvolting it to the moon? otherwise there's no point water cooling it... although I guess it does look badAzz. make sure you get one that's not voltage locked

That really depends. Getting something like a FTW or SC edition GPU may permit you to OC it higher, but if you are just looking to water cool and not necessarily OC heavily then getting a cheaper reference card design may be the better choice since you don't want to spend money for something like a VaporX cooler when you are just going to take it off and add it to a water cooling loop. It really depends what you are looking to do.

What my plan is, i would like to get either a r9 290/x, put a water block on it and add it to my loop, and then do some overclocking on it. But my question would be, will my overclock on the cheapest one available be the same as if i had went with a more expensive one and overclocked that?
