Frankly, id rather get another free tool to do the same tasks basically. And do i need a wireless adapter connected to my pc to be able to scan wifi networks and wifi signals/channels in my area? or can i do that with a hardwired pc?

Its really too bad they decided to charge for this tool. It has some of the better graphs. I suspect someone will eventually come out with a good replacement. The data itself is nothing special almost any pc or phone will give you a list of AP it can see and the signal strength.

Your hardwired PC will need to connect to some device that has wireless network ability. There are some router that will display other devices nearby and there are some very fancy controllers that will attempt to triangulate between AP to find unauthorized router/ap. Still there always must be some device that has a radio that can receive all the broadcasts from the AP/ROUTER. There really is nothing that is as simple to use as inssider unfortunately

Ive seen a few tools that are simple looking and seems simple enough. Its not like i dont know my way around. I just need to see what channels the wifi signals are on so i can have my router on the least used one around me for least interference.

I also need to know this. Inssider is not free. How to enable WiFi scanning of channels when is router connected to desktop without wifi antenna with ethernet cable, from desktop to LAN port. Connection is like this: MODEM -> WAN PORT Wireless router - > LAN Cable to Desktop.
