Hi, I am looking into getting a Mac mini for school work and light gaming.the kind of gaming I would probably be doing, would be last gen console games, mostly cods. Would a Mac mini 2012 be able to play cod at 30 fps? I would want the graphic settings like what they were on ps3. And I would play things like prop hunt and mine craft? Besides that I don't really care about graphics. And don't recommend a pc or console

Go to 'steampowered.com' and download steam for Mac.
This is a cross platform games site that has just finished making every game in its library available on pc, Mac or its own platform, steam machine.
It can check your hardware and give you an idea of what you can play.
It may also give you an idea where you can upgrade.
Hope this helps.

The words Mac and gaming are not commonly used together. A mac mini, while a nicely put together piece of kit is essentially an i5 desktop computer with integrated graphics, which also happens to be utilising a laptop or mobile processor for power saving and space. So Minecraft it will most likely play fine, but I doubt you will achieve playable frame rates on call of duty. Especially not to PS3 standards.

All the 2012 Mini's used Intel HD 4000 for gfx.
It's pretty bad for gaming.
Even though some of the CPU's are quite powerful, the integrated gfx will strangle anything graphic.

Search for 'Intel HD 4000 game bench' to get an idea of what's what.

So even if I upgraded to 8gb of ram, it still wouldn't play a game like mw2 at 30fps on any settings?

Never mind, steam says mw2 needs iris graphics to run. Guess I have to hope the Mac mini gets updated at WWDC to iris graphics...

More ram won't give you more FPS. It will just mean less mid-level loading etc.
