new build sound problem

I just finished my build and everything works fine, drivers installed and ran a youtube sound test and worked fine but soon as I click on the little speaker on the task bar to adjust system sound the sound cuts out and the speaker turns into a red x. when I right click to open sound devises it sometimes shows devises and sometimes shows none and says no devices installed....im confused...the motherboard is msi z87m-g43 w integrated sound and sound blaster cinema software installed as well as realtek hd audio drivers...plz help ty

Could be drivers, doesn't really sound like hardware to me. Try removing the sound blaster software and the driver, uninstall the sound card from device manager. Reboot and let windows install the basic hd audio driver and see if that works. Then install the realtek driver. Test, then if that works keeps installing stuff until it doesn't. Then you've found your culprit.
