Hi im new to his forum. I am planning to buy this card in a month but i wonder if my psu can handle it. I tested my friends Zotac 770 with Battlefield 4 at 1080p Ultra and it worked fine but i didn't use heavy programs like Furmark. My specs

MSI B75MA-P45
i3 3220 3.30 ghz (Bottleneck not important)
Two GSkill Ripjaws 4gb 1600mhz cl9 1.5v
Two HDD
Asus DVD Writer
Three fans

Hi David35
The Radeon R9-280X requires a PSU with 30A on the +12v rail and a 550W psu minimum
That PSU has two 12v rails with 24A and 25A , i think you would be pushing it a bit with the amperage , wattage is fine

That power supply specification meets the requirements for your new card.
It is a tier 3 supply, which isn't great quality but it should do the job:

If you are looking for a better supply:
XFX Core 550 / XFX Pro 550
Seasonic G 550
Antec HCG 620

I suggest a PSU from seasonic (xfx also seasonic )as VincentP suggested or any PSU from the corsair TX,AX,HX range
they are all quallity PSU's , 550W or Above and modular or not is your preference

Thanks for the answers and recommendations for better supply. I'm planning getting psu after card because some money problems. But i didnt understand mickypheonix's sentence ''you would be pushing it a bit with the amperage'' because my english is bad is it not enough. Can you explain it simpler? Also how can i test card for artifacts or problems?

To be put simply, you need a better power supply, I do suggest looking into this one linked earlier;

Antec HCG 620, I have a HGC 900 and love it, Antec HGC's range are great PSU's.

I had a Thermaltake TR2 "Black Widow". It failed, took a crosshair formula and a 770 with it, Asus fixed them both, of course. But still, I hate Thermaltake, forever.

VincentP said it should do the job so im confused, but looks like i have to buy a new power supply first.

yeah, no. It can do the job but will it do it sufficiently, no. Highly advise a PSU upgrade first.

what i meant was that GPU requires 30A , your PSU has 25A so ( you would be pushing it ) means your PSU may struggle to cope under full load , upgrade your psu
and you are welcome , hope it all goes well for you, all the best

The power supply has two rails, 25A and 20A.
No other limit is specified for the combined +12V rails.
The specification suggests the combined rating is 45A.
