just bought an r9 280x

started working on the first day absolutely no problem played game at max graphics. got more than a 80-100fps no problem

psu: evga500b
cpu:i7 3770k
ram 8gb corsair
hdd:500gb blue wd
mobo: p8z77-lk
r9 280x sapphire (only the base model w/ dual-x fan)

but just yesterday my cpu wont turn on. with gpu pluged in..

but when i remove gpu and plug in monitor on onboard graphics everything works fine.

is this a problem with drivers ?
is this a problem with directx?
is my psu not enough? <- biggest concern?

plug in your old CPU again and see if it works, just to confirm that the GPU is actually currently working properly.

I'm willing to bet it's your PSU.

ok so i used the 600watt strike-x aerocool on my other rig(which is an fx-8350 w/ a 7950). seems to have same effect 1st time plugin r9280x works fine. but when you reboot it the system wont turn on again. when you remove the gpu the system works fine.

so does this dettermine that the PSU is not the problem?...

may try pluging in my 7950 into this rig(the intel) just to check. have not doen this yet.

Your psu is not good at all. It is a generic brand and it known to fail as well. Avoid Aerocool power supplies. Stick to Antec, Coolermaster V series, Corsair(AX,HX or TX), EVGA SuperNova G2 Series, Seasonic or XFX

woops no it still had problems of not displaying anything on the screen even with bios switch on the gpu is on.

I have know tried placing the graphics card on the pci slot 2 the white one and it works fine after powering it on and off for 5 times. already i think for now it is a temporary fix
