Alright, so I'm new to this site but I really need some help on the matter. I've been running a rig for a while now, specifically for gaming which has been fine. It consisted of:
GTX 760
AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz
GA-78LMT-S2P
8GB RAM DDR3
600PSU
Windows 7
I recently decided to upgrade the motherboard, CPU and Ram, just so it's there since some of my games got a little choppy and the CPU performance was being capped. So I decided to purchase the following parts:
AMD FX-8350 8-Core 4GHz Black Edition
M5A99FX Pro R2.0
8GB Ram DDR3
So I've connected it all up into my computer, after a lengthy process I've re-installed windows and have the computer working. My issue is that whenever I boot a game, (sometimes even while doing simple tasks such as watching YouTube videos) the fan-speed on the CPU goes crazy, raising to 5000RPM, which is making a huge amount of noise. I'm using a software called 'Speed Fan 4.49' which is supposed to help with this, although it doesn't seem to make much difference.
While running games, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watchdogs or Tropico 5, the readings I'm getting are as follows:
GPU: 80C
Temp1: 50C
Temp2: 34C
Temp3: -128C
Ambient: 0C
HD0: 45C
Whilst idling on the computer, my CPU fan speed hangs around 3000-3300RPM, but the second I boot a game, it goes crazy. I'm not sure if this is normal, or whether these temps. for my GPU and CPU are normal, but I've looking around and a few people have suggested purchasing a 'Hyper 212 Evo' cooling fan for the CPU, which I have done and am waiting for it to arrive.
My main issue with this is I'm not hugely experienced with computers. I know a little bit here and there but I don't want to push my computer to do anything that might cause it to overheat or damage itself. Ideally I'm just looking to know if these temps. are safe, and whether this fan-speed is normal. It would be great if someone might be able to tell me if this 'Hyper 212 Evo' cooling fan will help reduce noise, fan-speed and temps. also.
Also, I noticed with my new motherboard the bios is different, which is obvious, I know, but it doesn't directly boot Windows 7, I have to select the option from the boot options menu for it to begin. I'm just wondering if this is normal.
Sorry if this information is vague, I'm just trying to optimize computer performance with my new parts, which I'm assuming should be performing better than my previous hardware. It's worth noting that my new rig can run the games smoothly at Ultra, I'm just concerned of playing them for more than an hour at a time due to the noise, fan-speeds and temps.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Jamie
