You can try this: In Device Manager go to the device and right click it; then select un-install; ok. Then restart the system. Windows will try to install the "unknown device". If after re-boot the device still has not cleared then right click again and select update driver. Permit windows to search the web. Now as to downloading the driver, does the device have a brand name or is it just usb hub or similar? The file you downloaded sounds correct. When you click on the extracted file what happens or what do you see? If it expands into a group of folders, one is most likely the usb folder and has the setup file inside. A nit more detail and information will help to help you. Lastly have you checked in your bios to see if you need to turn that device on there and did it ever work..what changed if it did?

Just downloaded and checked the file for you. Try running the ASetup file. This will start the package installation and at some point you should be given options of what software to install. In the chipset folder\applications is a usb detect application.

I remember having this issue on my Lenovo laptop about a year ago. They mentioned something about a motherboard issue and I eventually sent it in for repairs as I was getting blue screens (usb bugcode error type stuff) and various fixes didnt help it. I never really figured out what happened to it as, due to repair center issues I ended up getting a new laptop back. Basically what I'm saying is that, if it's like the issue that I had it could potentially be a hardware issue
