Catalyst drivers won't install

I just put together a computer, but I am stuck with a problem. If I try to turn on the computer with the GPU installed I get no display on the monitor. If I take out the GPU to install the drivers I get package failure during installation. I have tried installing them from the ASUS CD that came with the card as well as downloading them from AMD's site with the same package failure error. I am assuming it is because there is no card being detected. I am currently having no issues using the onboard graphics. I have an Asus Z97-A motherboard, with a Haswell 3.5ghz processor. The GPU is an ASUS Radeon R9 270X. Are there some universal drivers I can download that will allow me to get a display with the GPU installed so I can then install the catalyst drivers? Or is there another way to fix this? I have an Acer monitor and never installed any drivers for it.

Something else is wrong. You don't need drivers to get default display to work with any video card... All video cards are VGA compatible by default so that you can at least boot your PC to install drivers. Try testing the card on another computer or something...

I don't have another computer available unfortunately. Both the PCI slots light up on the GPU when i turn on the computer and the 2 fans both work on the card. I will try again to ensure extra hard that the GPU is properly installed but I got it to latch in there with no problems before.

Thank you that fixed the problem Suztera. Amazing how simple it can be sometimes...

I didn't think of that before cause the DVIA cable has a different pin configuartion on the monitor side and the cord but it still fits into the GPU. Didn't think it would before.
