i recently got the r9 270x. i heard it was a great card so i got it. well i havent had a good experience. on BF4 i go from 50-60 fps to a horrible 20fps then back up to 60fps. in games such as ,just cause 2,borderlands, and BF3 i get a bad fps. on my old card i could play borderlands and just cause 2 at a nice smooth 60fps now i can only get about 40. on my BF3 i could get 20 fps on ultra settings. now i get 30-40 that is a improvement but not by much. i know this card can do a lot more i just need to find the problem i really need help with this.

my Cpu is the fx-6100 3.3ghz
8gb of ram thanks

It shouldn't be the card problem. It is the cpu. It is not a good cpu really.

Depends what your budget is. Also I would ensure you have the latest AMD catalyst drivers.

yes i have the current drivers (14.4) right now i don't have the money to get a new CPU but i was just wondering what would be good with this card.

FX8350 or an Intel i5 . You would need a new motherboard either way.

No..

Same CPU+Stronger videocard does not equal less performance.
Whats your Powersupply? The 270x takes a great deal more power than the 7770 and it might be running in a Low Power State(if that even exists anymore).
Also, monitor your clock rates with MSI Afterburner while you game. The R7 and R9 series cards have notorious trouble with AMD's PowerPlay, which lowers your clock rates when its "not needed"(But commonly doesnt give you full clocks when they are needed).

my power supply is 500 watts.

500watts could be ok if its a decent quality powersupply that can push a maximum combined 30 Amps or greater on the 12v Rails.

What make and model is the Powersupply? I'll look up its exact specifications.

No the architecture in the FX 6100 was considered terrible -Bulldozer .
The FX 8350 is the Piledriver which fixes so many flaws that the Bulldozer had.
Even a FX 6300 will outperform a FX 8150.

Here is a complete gpu and cpu benchmarks of BF4 Naval Strike:

Regardless if the architecture is "terrible" compared to another chip, replacing the 7770 with a 270x SHOULD NOT lower the over all performance of the system. That is the fact you are implying and you are wrong about it.

OK i admit that i implying the wrong issue.

To the OP what is your CPU usage and GPU usage when in game.

Ever heard of the Scientific Method?

If
Quote:
6100+7770=60fps in JC2

And
Quote:
6100+270x=40fps

The only variable in the equation is the graphics card, yet your quoted statement implies the CPU is at fault..but its not. That follows no logical pattern what so ever.

EDIT: Furthermore you then go and give a "Solution" that will cost hundreds of dollars.

Which STILL wouldnt solve the two likely causes(PowerPlay and/or not enough power to the card) of the performance issues.

If you don't have enough power to the gpu, it simply will not display anything or turn the display off if power is not enough when gaming. If he is able to achieve 30-40 fps at ultra settings with BF3, it is not an issue with powerplay.

...PowerPlay is a software issue, ive had firsthand experience and troubles with it.
Instead of getting my full 1150mhz core clock id get ~800mhz while playing Tomb Raider(2013).
Guild Wars 2 was worse,id never get over 500mhz core.

Power Supply is a hardware issue.
I havent had Power Supply limitation problems since the 6600gt days(2004) so im not sure how cards behave now but, back then it would basically lock into 2d clocks,a "low power" state.

EDIT: now please PM any further questions you have about this,Suztera.
