Hi everyone, Im currently in need of some help deciding which motherboard to get. Since I know this is a very open subject I will add details on what will be the use I will be giving to it.

I pretty much went from hardcore gamer to casual because work and other life endeavors are taking most of my time away from gaming. Even so, when I get the time to play I still want everything running as smooth as possible. The higher the frame rates I can get, the better I like the gaming (like everyone else i guess). Part of system that I plan to build will consist of a boot drive, a spindle, an asus 270x r9, amd fx-8350 in a sentey gs660. Aside from gaming, I do photo and audio editing and do a lot of 3d designing. I also want to mention that I wont be doing any crazy overclocking; not for the next few month anyways, and this is what is giving me a hard time deciding what to get. Going all outs on the motherboard and be ready from when I start doing crazy overclocking or stick with a cheaper motherboard and do some decent overclocks.

Every suggestion will be greatly appreciated :)

Solution
Sabertooth is an overclocking BEAST with a great CPU and good cooling.

Cooling with MX4 thermal and Phanteks PH-TC14PE.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked into Intel boards but I've had the worst of luck with Intel CPUs. I've gone through as many as 7 in 40 days and ever since I crossed Intel out. Its sad cause I know they're good but they hate me I guess.

Going back to my decision dilemma; I love the sabertooth design and I like how the M5A99FX. I can see that both are very similar boards aside from the tuf features. I really doubt I will try to OC the FX 8350 to 5ghz like some have tried but will sure try to hit at least 4.6/7ghz. I'm guessing this will take me back to the crosshair ?

I have the Crosshair V Formula-Z and it's an amazing board. I can't recommend it enough. Just don't get the non-z version. I had that for a while, it was bad. BTW I have a 9590 @ 4.7ghz and 2x8gb 2400mhz RAM on it, and it's 100% stable.

Do you got this working with memory listed on the QVL or some other?

I just got the RAM I wanted and manually entered timings, clock speed, and voltage.

Thank you. I'll keep this in mind for when I make a decision on which board I'll get. Hopefully there will be some more suggestions and that way I can decide more easily.

Thanks for telling me that before I bought it >.<
My 9590 refuses to hit 5ghz even if I throw 1.52v at it and set load line calibrations to 120 and digi + to ultra high. It throttles down to 7x multiplier after a few minutes of prime95.....

Thanks everyone for your respond. After reading all over the web and here I decided I will remove from the list the Crosshair. Its an awesome board but I dont see me having the need for any ROG features and as far as OC goes it seems I can get stable ocs with cheaper boards. So at the moment Im kinda moving towards what features I would really use from the boards along with some cosmetics.

For what I can see the asus m5a99fx pro r2 seems to be about the same board as the sabertooth aside from the military look and tuf features (correct me if Im wrong). I like the m5a99fx color scheme over the sabertooth only because it seems to be easier to match with the rest of the build. I even look into the asrock fatal1ty killer. Liked the color scheme, has enough sata ports (will only have boot drive, spindle and optical). I like that it has a debug led but the uefi its kind of a mess compared to asus uefi. I guess thats pretty much where I stand now. Go cheap with an asrock (mainly for the color scheme) or spend a few bucks more.

What im sure I will be getting

ASUS R9270X 4GD5
Sentey Halcon 6050
Rosewill HIVE 750 80 PLUS Bronze
G SKILL Ripjaws 1600 4GBx2
AMD FX 8350
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
A $20 optical (wont really get used)
Seagate barracuda 1TB 7200 rpm

Motherboard: still not sure
Cooling system: havent look into it yet

Nice Overclock! ***************(Insert Fireworks)********************* :)

My Sabertooth on my Intel setup rocks as well and I'm very pleased with the motherboards overclock capabilities!

After doing some more digging along with the input I got from here I decided to go with the sabertooth. Theres nothing but like good things about this mobo all over the web. It will take me some time getting the build done but I will definitely share my experience with it.

Thank you all for your feedback :)
