problem with wireless adapter or access point

hi everyone, sorry for the repeat post but none of the others seemed to help me. I'm trying to connect my desktop to my wifi, which used to be able to until recent magical events changed this. my wifi network displays full bars, but when i connect it tells me windows was unable to connect. I go through the automatic troubleshooter, which always ends in the wonderfully vague "problem with wireless adapter or access point" with a red X. my wireless adapter is enabled w/ updated drivers, but still nothing. I've unplugged both router and modem several times to no avail. thank you very much for your help!

well, as these things normally go, the issue was fixed by the silliest of things. I went into network and sharing center, removed the network from list of networks, and tried reconnecting. voila!
