I see the possibility of SSD on the PCIe interface.
They have insane specs, like the Mushkin Scorpion Deluxe with a read and write speed around 2000 MB/s!
In my country at the shop I buy my hardware, it seems to be €1,62 per GB if I pick the lowest capacity. Getting cheaper when I get a larger SSD.
Which is pretty expensive, but with that specs !!!

I hardly read about this, and never personally heard of a person owning one.
My question:
Why isn't this a thing? What is the downside !?

250GB Samsung 840 Evo (SATA SSD) - £90 on Amazon
240GB OCZ Revo (PCIe SSD) - £362 on Amazon

If they cost the same, or even reasonably close, everyone would go with PCIe devices (provided they had a free slot).

The way things are going currently there is more interest in SATA Express (10GB/s) and M.2
