Good strategy games

I want a good strategy game on pc. It should be a "War" game. and i want to be able to build stuff like walls and turrets. Kinda like Age of empires, But not age of empires ;P

Pretty sure all of the old Command and Conquer games are shareware now and I remember at least the earlier ones having the ability to build walls and various turrets

Command And Conquer is a great strategy series.

If you're particularly fond of Age of Empires you may wish to check out Rise of Nations. It's an older game from the mid 2000s (2003 I think) but it's still quite popular and has an extended edition coming out on Steam in a few months.
