Hi guys,

My laptop model is asus k52jc:

Core i5 450m
2*2 GB ram, ddr3, 1066 MHz

I scanned my laptop using "crucial" software and it offered me, among other options, following update for ram:

8 GB kit- (4GB*2) - DDR3 PC3-12800 - Unbuffered NON-ECC - DDR3 1600 - 1.35v

Although I'm sure that my laptop can support up to 8GB of ram, the thing is I'm kind of dubious about this suggestion by "crucial" since I've read about some people complaining about compatibility issues because of the frequency difference.

Does asus k52jc can really handle 1600 MHz ram?

Do I need to change some bios setting to make it work? If yes, then how can I be sure that my laptop is capable of providing me the required options in bios to make the changes?

I haven't bought the ram so far. I just want to be fully sure that what I'm going to buy would work seamlessly. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I have the latest bios installed but how can I be sure that my laptop supports 1600MHz ram?

Hey I'm in the same boat except I have a Dell Inspiron 17r (n7010) with the same processor and the same installed ram. I also got the same result from Crucial's system scan and the offer of upgrading to the same 8gb kit. Unfortunately I went ahead and bought a 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengence 1.3v 1600 MHz kit and when I installed it, I cannot load Windows.

I don't know if this is because of the voltage or something else. Does first generation i5 support the 1.3v ram?
