My specs ..

GPU: GeForce GTX 650 Ti

RAM: 16 GB ECC 667 MHZ

CPU: Intel Xeon E5345 2.33 GHz (yes, my PC is a glorified workstation)


As the title says I'm experiencing major FPS drops from 120 - 60 and from 60 - 20 in firefights. correct me if im wrong but shouldn't my PC be able to handle TF2?

I'm running it in directx 8.1 and have reinstalled windows already and reinstalled tf2 3 times now.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem as you, I tried to post my problem on the Steam forums, but it didn't do much good. Basically all I know about this problem is that, many people have reported it, and it could be a problem with TF2 itself, not your PC.
I semi-fixed the problem by knocking the resolution down to 720p, but I see why you, with a beast of a PC, won't want to do that. :D
