Hi, im getting parts for my first build and I was wondering about the difference in memory. My friend told me to get 16 gigs but ive read that i only really need 8. I am going to be playing lots of games and recording and editing the video. I am also doing schoolwork. Which would be the best for these with best performance. Also what difference does it make between how many sticks of it you have such as 4 sticks of 4gig vs. 2 sticks of 8gig. All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Taken from the topic:

With gaming it will be a lot less that would be needed and with the new games coming out the normal 8gb that was recommended in the recent past will now be upped to 16gb. Naturally if there are budget restraints and you have to go with 8gb then it should be ok but not optimal.

well once your into extreme graphic games that is where your going to utilize all of the 16gb for games such as call of duty ghosts but most games in 2013-14 still recommend 8gb of ram which should be enough but for extreme gaming you could do with 16gb
