I am rebuilding my computer by adding a Samsung 840EVO 1TB SSD as my boot drive.

The SSD shows up in the BIOS when I hit F8 for the Boot Menu along with my other drives, but it doesn't show up in the "Boot Priority" column, where I really need it, so it will always boot from the SSD.

For now, every time I boot the computer, I need to go into the BIOS and hit F8 to boot the SSD.

I've plugged the SSD's SATA cable into different SATA plugs, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

I've referred to the instruction manual but haven't found any solution.

I am running BIOS 0603 dated 4-14-2014.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with a Samsung 840EVO 120GB drive. I updated the Z97-AR BIOS to the latest version and then I could see the SSD in both the Boot Priority and Boot Menu and hit F10 to save and exit. I've since had issues with it disappearing again from the Boot Priority list on system restarts. When this happens I simply update the BIOS again and it works...at least for a while.

Yes, it SHOULD be there. I am having the same issue with my ASUS Z97 Deluxe MB. I updated to the latest BIOS (1304) yesterday and both my SSD drives were there and could be selected in the boot order under "hard drive bbs priorities", but today they are gone and the choice no longer says "hard drive bbs priorities" it says something like "unknown hard drive bbs priorities" and only lists my data RAID drive. Both my Samsung SSD drives are listed under "F8" and I can boot from them. Every time I start my PC I have to go to UEFI BIOS first and choose my boot drive. It's very frustrating and annoying.

I have a dual-boot arrangement:
- Samsung 850 Pro 512GB - Windows 8.1 Professional
- Samsung 840 Pro 512GB - Windows 7 Ultimate

ASUS needs to get on this one.

UPDATE:
I resolved this earlier today by shutting down my power supply and removing ALL power from the motherboard. I waited ten or fifteen minutes and then powered back up. I could then see and select both my SSD drives as they reappeared in the "hard drive bbs priorities" in the BIOS. This is clearly a BIOS/motherboard issue that needs to be addressed by ASUS. I hope it does not occur again. I will return and update at some point either way it goes.

I had the same problem as Newsbob with my Asus Pro Z97 motherboard. I tried a lot of answers in different forums...no luck! I then decided to try a simple procedure you do to reset many electronic devices.

I shut my computer down, then I shut the main power supply switch off at the back of my computer. I waited approx. 10 to 15 mins and turned the power supply switch back on. I then turned my computer on went into the bios and voila the SSD drive was there. I was then able to select the boot order I wanted.

I know seems like a simple solution but sometimes the answer to our problems are right in front of us. Hopes this helps you out, as it was very frustrating for me.
