Stuck on "Loading OS" after upgrade

I just upgraded my mobo from a gigabyte 970fxa-ud3 to a gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, and my CPU from a phenom ii x4 965 to an FX-8320 vishera. After switching the parts and testing the Ram, I turned on the computer for the first time, and it would hang at the "loading operating system" black screen. I'm using the same HDD from before the upgrade, and i'm not sure what might be causing the problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance~

More about stuck loading upgrade
  1. Did you perform a clean install of windows?

You need to because the chipset drivers will be different.

So you had this OS install with all the drivers and settings for an old MoBo / CPU / Chipset and then you stuck the HD in and expected it to load ?

The OS is trying to load drivers for things it can not find and looking for drivers and settings for equipment that is not there..... it's understandably confused :)

Do a clean install as suggested above..... if ya need the stuff on that HD .... take it out, get a new one (or an SSD) and connect to lowest numbered SATA port....install windows on the new one, do all the Windows Update stuff over and over again till it stops. Then shut down and install old HD to 2nd lowest numbered SATA port and your done
  3. Thanks for the quick replies, I think I'll go with the SSD upgrade with a clean install of windows :)
