So here's the A:
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 AM3+
AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz Six Core
AMD HD7870 XFX DD 2GB VRAM
1TB 7200 RPM HDD
16 GB G.Skill DDR3 1600MHz
Thermaltake TR2 700W

Going to the B (Swapping the CPU and GPU):
AMD FX-8350 4GHz Eight Core
AMD R9 280x 3GB VRAM

Thoughts? At this price point, the R9 280x matches the performance of a GTX 770 2GB and is cheaper, so I thought it was a good way to go. I'm also hoping the PSU has enough wattage to back up the new CPU in tandem. I'm just hoping this system can handle any new titles like Watch Dogs (I've heard AMD got the short end of the stick on optimisation for that) and the usual others, BF4, Crysis 3, etc. at high settings, no AA, 1080p. Would it be worth it and possible to up the 280x to a 290? Or should I stay with this?

Thanks for the help!

I find this is a good reference for gpu power draw, http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/power-requirements-...
Looks like your psu has 57A on the 12v+, I think you can pull this upgrade off easily :) .

I run the 770 and 8350 with those titles on high with FXAA at ~60 FPS. Should be a nice upgrade.

Sounds nice! Might I ask your power supply's wattage?
