It's all marketing. Sadly, retail stores will advertise things like '2 GB dedicated gfx' and make it seem like the amount of graphics ram is pretty much the only thing that matters. This ends up with uninformed customers thinking they're buying a capable laptop when it comes with a 2 gb gt 610m.

I saw a laptop marketed as having graphics with 1792MB of dedicated ram, when it was intel integrated 4500mhd. I think it has 128mb dedicated and access to that much ram. Not sure about that.
