Hey, I have a 4300 w/ stock cooler @4.2ghz with a ga78lmt-usb3, and a 2gb hd 7770. My temps idle at high 30's and under load in mid 60's, Lbut its a bit noisy for my liking, and I would lime to make my PC as good as possible before I get a 1080p panel (I have a 1050p scratched monitor). I don't want a 212 because my rosewill ranger m has no cutout, but here are my questions

How difficult is it to install in am3+?

Can you make it so that the fan pushes air through the back of your case?

Does it matter what side the retention bracket is on?

1) not difficult
2) no

3) just get the hyper 212 and remove your motherboard so you can install the back plate and be done with this.

The thing is that I would need to remove my hard drive, GPU, PSU, etc... Because my micro atx case is a bit different. Also the 120mm fan is a bit big. Because I have a top mounted PSU, should I make the air push upwards? Also, what if I go for the arctic alpine 64 pro rev,2. Just wondering, how did you get your 4100 to 5.2 GHz (which cooler) ? Liquid, probably, but which one?

That overclock was actually on a Hyper 212+. That chip just loved voltage. It would have been great for dry ice. I ended up selling that chip to my friend after I abused it for over a year.

Looks like you will be taking apart your rig. You can get it nice and clean, and work on perfecting your cable management when you get your new cooler.

The TX3 just clips on the stock bracket. The T4 is bigger like the 212 and also clips on without having to change the backplate.

Do you think I would need to remove my motherboard in this case: (my rig) http://imgur.com/5irrBBO
I just want to not have to remove my motherboard it and be able to push air either through my Psu, or through the back of my case. If I need to remove it, I think I'll go for the arctic alpine. 64 pro rev 2.0

You really don't have much room to work with there. After assessing your situation, I'm going to recommend that you keep it as is. Don't increase your overclock. Besides your CPU cooling, your motherboard and your PSU are not going to handle a high overclock, so it's not really worth it to buy another cooler which only addresses 1 out of 3 issues. Your case is too small for a big cooler anyway.

Save up enough money to build over from scratch, and in the mean time just enjoy what you have. You did an impressive job of working with what you have available.

That's really not any better than the stock cooler. Sure, it has a more impressive looking fan, but it doesn't have much more in the way of metal.

The Extra fan doesn't improve cooling performance.

I think you guys are missing the point. I am not looking for better performance, my performance is great with this cooler even @4.2ghz, the 69mm fan is noisy, though. The thing is, that fan is 23mm bigger and reviews say it is quiet a bit larger, and seems easy to install. Even 2-3 degrees better would make me somewhat happy. From my recent 8th grade graduation, I am assuming I could probably get soemthing for around 20$, but with my birthday upcoming in late June, I could probably expand my budget near 40$. What should I buy? I have a good steelseries gaming mouse and mousepad along with a sidewinder x4 keyboard and a great jawbone jambox and Bose qc3's. I can't really get anything major, considering I just built my pc around 3 months ago. Maybe I can by the alpine followed by this:http://www.amazon.com/PNY-120GB-6Gbps-2-5-Inch-SSD9SC12..., but my motherboard only has sata 3gbps. Maybe a new case?

Even with only SATA II, the SSD will be a great upgrade. Save your money and get that.

So should I not get a CPU cooler, and just always wear my noise canceling headphones? Will I need to redos load all of my games??..

I was just browsing newegg coolers for you. A quality cooler is going to run you at least $30 and you would need to pull out your motherboard to install the backplate. I'd say forget it for now. Get the SSD. You'll love it. You can keep what you have on your HDD, install Windows on the SSD, and you can either move your games or install them again.

Okay. Should I buy a 3.5 to 2.5 inch convertor just to make cable management easier? Also, I have windows on the 2tb hdd, so how do I take the games off and onto the ssd? Can I somehow leave then on the HDD?

Some SSDs come with cloning software to make transferring easy. I usually just re-install. Some SSDs already come with a 3.5-2.5 converter.

Okay. So does this SSD seem good? I will watch some reviews and unboxings, but do you think that it will be a good upgrade? I've only used an ssd in an imac but it was a hybrid and it was crazy fast. I think its a lot more major of an upgrade than the cooler, and anyways, I can upgrade the cooler anytime. Maybe after this near Christmas I will get a 1080p panel because I'm using a 1050p panel with some scratches and it's really bugging me. Anyways, I use my headset a lot, so the noise isn't really noticeable anyways. Should I go with this or a high performance 60gb ssd? What would you reccomend as the next upgrade? CPU cooler :p

Good idea. Get the 120GB for sure.I or someone else will help you find a cooler when the time comes.

Alright man, thanks so much. This is fairly high performance, but only comes with itself and a sata cable. should I buy it new or used? It's only a 4 dollar difference, but I had a great experience with Amazon warehouse deals before. 59$ seems like quite a steal to me, regardless considering similar ssds are 74$. I think I will put it next to my HDD just for aesthetics. Will the performance difference be large? I will buy it near July and by then figure out the whole cloning deal and buy the adapter.

New, for sure. I personally can't live without SSD after running them for a few years now.

Does it really make that bog of a difference. I only turn off my computer when I upgrade components (on sleep, otherwise), anopening apps isn't that bad. Maybe I just don't know all the advantages though.

Easiest install of my life, just had to flip fan hecuase it hit sata cables. Maxes under 50 degrees at 4.2ghz :D .

I will buy the ssd in the next few weeks

Nope, kind of over reacted, lol. Just need to get the ssd in the next 2 weeks, and then probably a case in late Julu, and wait for winter to get a new panel.

That Ranger-M looks really crammed, be sure next time to get something with some cable routing room.

I've been looking at the Cougar Archon for budget case:

http://www.cougar-world.com/products/pc_case/archon.htm...

Hello! Yeah, when I bought it originally I wasn't really thinking, and it was for an upgrade to a core 2 duo e4000, dell inspiron 530. I am trying to buy the absoulute best in my budget at the moment. For the ssd, I am going with the pny xlr8 120gb, and the cases I am looking at are not micro atx. I am looking at the nzxt source 210 mid tower, fractal design core 1000 (it's micro atx, so proabably won't get, or the corsair spec 01. I want to go with a good brand this time around so I don't end up with flimsy metal, and bay doors that ben, and hardly fit, and side panels that easily scratch. With my next case I will try to be really gentle. The thing is, If I get too big a tower, I will have to probably keep it on the floor, so The 210 is really as big as I can go. I could just move my monitor, mouse, and keyboard to the right, though. Here is a pic of my setup so you know what I am dealing with:
Those columns above my pc are removable, but then my mousepad kind of gets in the way, and I like keeping my pc on my desk, considering my floor is carpeted, and my dog always loves to snuggle under there, don't want him screwing around. Also, I spend an absolute crap ton of time on cable management, so don't want to redo by moving tower.
