when i try to install windows it says that your hardware does not support booting to this disc please help

bios says that my hdd is not installed and does not detect it while when i try to install windows 7 in my pc it says to turn on disk controller in bios menu well i have tried 3 to 4 hdd to install windows 7 but in all cases it displays the same message please help me i have lost all my hopes

well thanks for atleast replying.i have an hp motherboard model no.sr1933il its bios version is 3.24 it has two ram slots,intel core 2duo at2.8 ghz
and its core version is 8.0 i am using pcie for. viedo.i have also tried installing windows xp it went well till the time when it is restarted but after restarting it automatically jumps to the screen where you have to select the drive for installation and one more thing in bios menu where we have to set the boot priority it shows that there is no intalled hdd group although boath my sata controllers are enabled and pata controller is set to boath and moreover it shows my cd/dvd drive but no hdd group.i have also triedother ports but no luck and it does not happens with my hdd only as i have mentioned i have a segate hdd 160gb,yeah my pc is about 10 to14 years old
