My PC seems to freeze for a split second. The sound will go off too and I think fans stop?

My PC freezes sometimes and I have noticed stuttering on games. I can be playing a game at 60FPS and then it will freeze, the sound will also stop and then resume when the freezing has stopped. Also my steam client goes very slow sometimes and I have no idea why.
- i7 3770k ivy bridge 1155 3.5 ghz (Stock cooler)
- ASRock z68 extreme4 gen3 Motherboard
- ASUS nVidia GTX 760 GPU
- 8GB 1600mhz RAM
- 2TB HDD
- 750 watt power supply
When I played DayZ I noticed fans also stopped when this problem occurred, I'm not sure about other games because I can't hear much with my headphones on. Could it be the CPU cooler, hard drive? I'm just making guesses here. If its any more help to you, my PC which we can agree is pretty good spec doesn't run games as good as it should. Thanks, Sam

Looking at that cpu you have the latest bios? (=P2..10)
Update all drivers for the motherboard too.
Update the nvidia drivers too, maybe even reinstall them. For removal of the old ones could you use the next tool,
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_unin...
Go into the bios and look if the ram works at rated specs=speed, latency's and voltage.
Which psu? =make and model+wattage or info from the sticker on the side.

Yes the BIOS has the latest version 2.10, how would I update the drivers for the motherboard? simply a download online?
My nVidia driver are upto date as I am a gamer and I believe the RAM is working fine. The PSU is an OCZ MODXSTREAM-PRO 700watt.
Some more information that has been happening recently is the fans get SUPER loud when playing games so heat may be a factor in this and when I am watching videos on windows media player or Youtube, the sound will cut off at least every 5 minutes for a couple of seconds. Thanks for your reply, Sam

definitely check into your PSU as suggested above, a faulty one can cause all sorts of problems. Goodluckbtw when finish updating bios make sure to load it again in optimized settings
Now nVidia Geforce experience has the error message "nvidia geforce experience has encountered an error and must close". Still persists after a reinstall uhhhh. Have no idea for a fix for that

Not the best, not the worst either.Maybe check the voltages in the bios to see if they are within the +/- 5% deviation.
The next program can monitor sensor data too,
hwinfo32
open it,mark=V sensors and click run.

Check the temps via that same sensor window.
Also check the cooler on the cpu to see if it got loose on a corner.maybe even time to clean the case and components?
