Assuming all modules are identical, which is better:

4) 2GB modules

or

2) 4GB modules

and how come? or if there are times where one is better and times when the other is better, what would those be?

Solution
well they run in dual channel mode. meaning for bandwidth it uses 2 sticks, not 4. except in some very high end intel chipsets. where you have triple channel and i think even quad channel now. basically you want as many sticks as you have channels. which is typically 2.

It's as simple as that? lol I thought I was going to get "simultaneous data streams" "bottlenecking" and a whole bunch of other buzzwords I don't have a clue about, and all kinds of whatnot about how 4 is better sometimes, 2 is better other.

But that's it? 2 is better than 4? end of story?
