GPU not detected, drivers not downloading, big black screen borders.

I have a BIG problem. Yesterday I tried to install the latest GeForce drivers (337.88 for my gtx 650 ti 2GB) and the installation stopped partway through telling me "nVidia drivers installation failed" with a list of what was and what was not installed. I found that particularly bizarre since my drivers always installed normally. I tried a second time and at some point I saw the familiar drop in resolution and thought everything was OK.
That was far from true, though. My resolution was stuck at 800x600 and when I managed to raise it up to 1920x1080p as usual, the windows theme couldn't become semi-transparent as it used to be and my monitor's refresh rate looked very slow. There were also big black borders around the screen. I also tried o install my previous nVidia drivers (335.23 I think) and that was impossible, too.
That is not the worst part, though; what makes this whole situation worse is the fact that when I tried to use EVGA Precision X, an error message popped up saying "No supported hardware detected!", and GPU-Z didn't detect any graphics card. I double checked all my hardware was ok and even repositioned my CPU, RAM, HDD and VGA, as wall as all my cabling. The problem persisted. I tried to restore my system to a point before the installation of the drivers three times, but there was a windows error message saying that my antivirus stopped the operation or something of the sort, even though I completely uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials.
What should I do? I am planning to format my PC and install windows 8.1, but I guess that can't fix any hardware problem. I serioulsy need help with this one, since I was planning to sell my GPU to a friend in a few weeks. Please answer as fast as possible, guys.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.

Not to worry, you haven't done any permanent damage, although you did do a lot of unnecessary stuff. Please do the following:

1) Uninstall all Nvidia software including geforce experience in add/remove programs
2) Go into Control Panel -> Device Manager (under "system" -> "hardware" tab in Windows XP)
3) Under Display Adapters, right click on your graphics card, and select "uninstall"
4) Restart your computer
5) Install Geforce experience and allow it to automatically update your drivers.

If the above doesn't work, download the last known good driver for your card (whatever you were running previously), and repeat steps 1-4 above, then install the last known good driver using the regular nvidia installer (not geforce experience) and avoid geforce experience and the new patch until Nvidia fixes whatever problem is in the new driver (assuming there is one. I am thinking something just went wrong which is why I'm having you attempt to reinstall the newest driver first).

So I was able to uninstall most of my nVidia files but I couldn't uninstall the 335.23 driver (which I am running right now, apparently) and the nVidia 3D Vision driver 335.21. I also couldn't use the nVidia Control Panel.
