Greetings, you guys..

so i came across with these monitors. i dont know which one is the best. im doing a lot of gaming and a lil bit photoshop and illustrator. i prefer 24". dont mind a 22" if the difference isnt noticeable than 24" because now im using 14" laptop.

Dell 23" S2340L (IPS)
http://www.amazon.com/S2340L-23-Inch-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00A6WZW6E/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1401630630&sr=1-1&keywords=Dell+S2340L

Dell 22" S2240L (IPS)
http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-s2240l/pd

Dell 24" E2414H (TN)
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-E2414H-24-Inch-Widescreen-Backlit/dp/B00DM65EH8

BenQ 24" GL2460HM (TN)
http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2460HM-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00IKDFL4O/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1401630715&sr=1-1&keywords=BenQ+GL2460HM

# IPS or TN - still got no idea how to choose between these 2 types.
# response time - lower is better but is 7ms and 2ms really a noticeable difference?
# input lag - no idea.

my preference are;
-sharp image.
-sharp color
-sleek screen frame like that Dell is super nice
-my room is quite dark so glossy is good.
-wide viewing angle.
-24"-ish.
-anti-glare if possible
-if 7ms and 2ms isnt that big different and unnoticeable, i wud choose IPS panel.
-input lag? tho im not a hardcore gamer. just love video games a lot.
-not pricey. tight budget. price only can go around these 4 monitors.

or suggest me any other monitor that suits with my preference. ty.

i choose my part here. im in Malaysia so the the different with USD's currency would be USD1:RM3.12. *and yeah. these parts are quite pricey than in ur place*

this http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VE247H-Backlight-Integrated-Speakers/dp/B004EFUOY4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1401632165&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+ve247h ....or this http://www.amazon.com/VE248H-24-Inch-Full-HD-Integrated-Speakers/dp/B0043T7FHK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1401632200&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+ve248h

response time and input lag is basically how long it takes the monitor to process and display the image, low response times can result in ghosting...these are fairly noticeable when playing racing games as alot of things on the monitor is moving at very fast speeds...the difference between 2ms and 7ms might be noticeable. The difference between TN and IPS panels are TN= fast response times but short viewing angles, ..TN=slow response times but wide viewing angles...i dont really see viewing angles being a problem for a 24 inch screen that you're gonna be gaming on, i mean how much can you possible move/ bob your head while gaming? Also, IPS panels tend to be slightly more expensive, at your budget, TN suits you best (its like buying a cheap mechanical keyboard vs expensive rubber dome (normal keyboard)

EDIT: response times are considered slightly more important than wide viewing angles in gaming, i mean smooth frames vs being able to move your head from side to side?...also, good quality TN panels don't have that short of a viewing angle either, for one person viewing one screen, you'll barely notice the difference.....http://www.cnet.com/uk/topics/monitors/buying-guide/

ill be playing a lot FPS. its my favourite genre for video games. also other games like dota2, starcraft, need for speed.

ive read bout people said how bad TN panel when it's 60Hz. so thats why it's quite puzzling me to choose. but since it's over my budget (120-144Hz) so i cudnt care less.

ive also read bout asus warranty. it's hard to claim warranty for asus lcd if there 1 dead pixel. maybe it's just in my place. but still it's true. any other choice? Dell is nice tho.

this is also another choice http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2460HM-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00IKDFL4O/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1401636778&sr=1-1&keywords=BenQ+GL2460HM ...although i'd stick with the Asus one i recommended earlier simply because i trust them more, yes dead pixels are inevitable eventually (however for good monitors dead pixels are extremely unlikely within the first 2-3 years of usage), i mean i have some random hp panel for 2 years, no dead pixels whatsoever so i mean Asus monitors should not be a problem...in the case of a dead pixel you should be able to claim if the dead pixel is within the warranty time period....and you've read how bad TN panels are at 60hz?....what do you mean?

no probs :) ...just be sure to select a best solution so that others experiencing the same issues will be able to see the answer

Solution
You're missing the main advantage point of an IPS panel. While an IPS panel does have better viewing angles, the main purpose is that the image quality is much better than a typical TN panel. When it comes down to a 60hz 5ms IPS panel vs a 60hz 2ms TN panel, I would choose the IPS any time because the image quality is that much more superior. My cousin has an IPS monitor and I use a TN monitor. I didn't even know what monitor he had but I could tell from the start that it was IPS because it looked so much clearer and nicer. Honestly, the small difference in the response time would be nothing compared to the superior image quality you are getting.

The only reason I would recommend a TN panel is either budget constraints or 144hz.

that will be a lot priceyy. my budget is only around dell s2340l or benq gl2460hm. asus isnt in my list because theyre hard to claim warranty even when theres 1 dead pixel. whichever i think i'll go to the shop and try them myself just to b sure.

IPS panels are alot more expensive, i mean the debate between ips and tn is like mechanical keyboard and rubber dome keyboard....an expensive rubber dome keyboard is a better choice than a cheap mechanical keyboard, for the budget, an ips panel will most likely have some form of 'white' colour bleed (from the backlighting) and darker images (maybe games as dark as metro 2033/last light) will be horrendous in terms of picture quality, low contrast...
have a look at this, TN and IPS side by side (these two cost very similar)

that right one is IPS?

IPS panels are not that much more expensive. Most of the time you can find a good IPS 1080p monitor for about the same price as a regular TN panel - maybe a bit more.
Since a TN panel doesn't really offer anything over an IPS panel if you're sticking with 60hz, I really see no reason to stick with TN considering most people cannot tell the difference between 2ms and 7ms response time. 7ms isn't high enough to cause any ghosting.

hahaha i know what u mean by real IPS. it means it costs more :(

actually i was going to consider a RL2455HM. because it's specialize for gaming. but it's so over my budget. then there are GL2460HM and S2340L. both are at the same price. but i like S2340L better because of its sleek and small screen frame (or is it called bezel?). but since i cant still decide between IPS or TN so it need to hold on first. performance first, design second.

i think im going to test them both myself at the shop to decide which one suits the best for me.

+1; IPS is simply beautiful.
