My Intel HD Graphics 4600 not swapping to my AMD properly?

So, I bought a new computer a while ago (I think back in February?) and the way that it was assembled it has an Intel HD Graphics 4600 as well as an AMD Radeon R9 200 series graphics card installed. I've read that it's mostly laptops that have the hybrid graphics systems as such but I haven't really figured having it in a desktop was an issue since I played most games on medium-high-ish quality with pretty decent frames. But, when it came to the newer games like Thief and Far Cry 3, I got crappy frames. When I checked with MSI Afterburner to see if the GPU was in use, every time it was the intel instead of the AMD.

I'm pretty sure that they're meant to swap when I booted up games and such, but it doesn't. I'm really wanting to be able to use my AMD to play games and have my intel for just average web browsing but I don't want to disable the Intel via Device Manager in case something goes wrong. The drivers are all updated so it's not that problem.

So, basically, I'm just wondering if there is a way to have that or just one or the other. In that case, I'd rather have the AMD over the Intel Graphics any day. Any help is appreciated.

My specs are:
Intel quad core i5-4670
Intel Graphics 4600
AMD Radeon R9 200s
Win-7 x64 bit

When two graphics cards are installed the general behavior is that the integrated/built-in card is disabled. However, you may go into the BIOS select the discreet card as your primary display and disable the integrated card. Also make sure that your video cable is not faulty and it supports that graphics card.

Check for correct seating of graphics cards and also check its power connectors that they are not loose.

When your GPU is installed your computer should automatically disable the integrated graphics.. Check that all connectors are firmly connected to the card.
If not, go to device manager and disable it under display adapters, but it should be turned off in the bios automatically when you put in the GPU, like I said.
If you have to do it manually then you go in the bios and in "integrated peripherals" you should have IGP or integrated graphic, display... select disabled on this option save and reboot.

refer to your motherboard manual if you have some trouble finding this option.

Cheers

Tried this, made my screen go black. I don't know how to turn it back on.

[EDIT]: To clarify, disabling the HD 4600 made my display shut off. I can hear that my PC has booted up but I cannot see anything. VGA has no signal, DVI has no signal.

I'm not sure how to boot it back up so that it went back to before I disabled the display drive.

[EDIT2]: I navigated it blindly and managed to get it enabled again so I have everything back again.
