EVGA GT610 on 250w PSU?

Hello guys. I will possibly buy the EVGA GT610 for my old system. I went to the Asus, Evga, and GeForce sites, they say power draw 29w and they recommend 300w psu. Lol I don't understand this, can anybody explain why that low power draw and that high psu compared to the consumption of the card? I have a 250w PSU with pentium d925 and 2gb 667mhz ram. Will my psu handle the GT610?

how many amps on the 12V rail for the PSU. Generally i'd say yes, BUT the Pentium D925 is quite a hungry processor at 95W, on an older chipset, so you might be closer to the while than you would be on a modern system.

I don't really know but you can check out. Its a dx2200. You will notice I upgraded everything except gpu so this is the hard part of upgrading anyway. Gpus are veeeery hard to decide which is better

you need to open it up and have a look at the psu, and read off the name plate. You know that that GPU is not really an upgrade to anything, it's not good for anything but basic windows work.

If it isn't, how is the r7 240 msi edition? I've seen this descent card works well with battlefield 3. I'll see what kind of psu it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I'll see.

you won't get a card that can game that will work on a 250W PSU. Anything below a 650/750 or a 260 I would say is not worth bothering with for gaming. You'll be disappointed and wasting money in my opinion.
