Budget Gaming Performance

Hi guys! I was just wondering which processor would be better for gaming:

Intel Core i3 4130 Dual Core CPU Retail (Socket 1150, 3.4GHz, 3MB, 54W, Extended Memory 64 Technology, Execute Disable Bit)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Extended-Technology-Execute-Disable/dp/B00EF1G98W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401449735&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+i3+4130

OR

AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core (3.5/4.1GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 6MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 95W, Retail Boxed)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX6300-Edition-4-1GHz-Socket/dp/B009O7YORK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401401299&sr=8-1&keywords=amd+fx+6300

I'll be using one of these processors with an Nvidia GTX 650 Ti and will be playing Skyrim, Watchdogs, Black ops 2, and Dead island, but which will give better performance?
Thanks!

I'd be inclined to go with the i3. Most games still aren't using more than 4 main threads. The i3's dual core + hyperthreading is more than sufficient for this, and 2 of the FX's weaker (but more numerous) cores often go to waste. Moreover, the i3 would have a good upgrade path for more performance, which AMD's AM3+ socket can't really offer.

As you can see, the i3 stacks up relatively well.

However I've also seen this benchmark, which doesn't pit it so well (The Haswell variant would have a higher clock speed and architecture improvements, so it would be above the other AMD offering at the very least):

The i3 because it has better single core performance. Also, why don't you go with a 270 or 270X for the GPU? It has better price for performance.

If you look at this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-2.html at the bottom is the FX6300 in an FPS chart. On the next page is the i3. The i3 gets better performance overall, and you get a better socket that you will be able to upgrade on.

The FX 6300 will be better on newer games and multithreaded applications, but overall the i3 will beat the FX6300.

I would be playing some new games such as Watchdogs and Skyrim, so which one would be best? And no, i think my GPU will be a 650 Ti, thanks anyway :)

So what sort of permanence would i get from each processor while using my 650 Ti, on Watchdogs, medium settings, 1280x800 with no AA? Thanks

However, the i3 would be far superior to the FX in Skyrim, which uses only a few threads.

TL;DR: i3, IMO.
