Some months ago I installed Windows Vista beta (build 5112) on Virtualbox and it worked but I couldn't install display driver and it was in 8 bit color mode so basically I couldn't use it at all.
Now I tried to install it on vmware but after rebooting there's a title "completing the installation" and that's where it freezes. The loading bar finishes after 1 hour waiting and it says "installation is taking longer than excepted". That was the point when I turned off the virtual machine.
I tried beta 2 (build 5259) and the same happens. I tried another iso of the beta 1 but it isn't working neither.
I've seen an old post (from around 2006) about vista beta cannot be installed on unallocated space on vmware 5 (I have vmware 8) and they said you must create a new partition but I always do it and still it cannot be installed. There is no error message other than "installation is taking longer than excepted" after 1 hour waiting.
I could install win7/win vista final/xp on vmware workstation with ease.
I'd like to install tons of windows longhorn versions but I see this is some kind of special error related to the longhorns/vista betas on VmWare. What should I do?

Contact VMware support, I don't find it odd that an old beta setup does not work.

Not to mention the fact that beta/preview versions have long since expired and will no longer activate, rendering them useless.
