Hello everyone!
I'll leave my pc specs first, then ill explain the problem:
i5 3570K (usted to be OC, now is stock) + Hyper 212 Plus
GA-Z77-D3H
2x4GB Kingston HyperX 1600 DDR3
Until yesterday, i didnt have a single problem with my computer except for really high temps con the CPU, so i decided to open it and clean it and change the thermal paste of the CPU.
I cleaned everything, but i commited the mistake of removing the CPU from the socket to clean the remaining thermal paste from it. Then i installed it again, mounted the heatsink, ram sticks, and everything else.
Went to my desktop, plug in all the stuff, turned on the PC and 10secs later, it turned off and then turned back on by itself, several times. I thought that maybe i didnt apply the thermal paste well and the cpu was overheating so thats why it was looping at the boot (i couldnt reach the bios before the reboot) so i removed everything again and reapplied the thermal paste again, but this time, i used only one stick of ram on the first slot, and it worked perfectly well, so i mounted everything up again, installed the other ram stick on the other Dual-Channel slot, and again, boot loop.
Then i tried the ram stick that i hadnt tested by itself, and i worked perfectly well, and i started testing.
The problem is that only the first 2 slots of ram are working (on the motherboard order it would be 1 and 3) but the other 2 they dont work at all, no with a single stick, not with the two of them, not with dual channel, not at all.
So i thought that i wasnt gentle enough at removing the cpu and maybe i bent some pins, but no, they were just fine (i used a magnifying glass to check them). Everything is clean, the PC is working as intended, no blue screens during stress testing or gaming, but those ram slots still dont work.
Does any of you guys know what can i do to fix them? I can live with single channel memory, thats fine by me, its not that big of a difference, but the thing is that those slots not working, its not right, even if they dont matter, they should be working, any ideas?
Sorry for the long post!
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Things i forgot to mention, i already tried removing the battery from the motherboard for 20mins, clearing the CMOS with a jumper, loading the optmized defaults on the bios and still no luck. I should also add that i never touched the memory sticks in terms of OC, not the latency, nor the voltage, i only OCed the cpu and even then, i didnt OCed it a lot, just till 4.2Ghz
