Is the revision number specific/necessary to upgrade BIOS?

I've been having some troubles with my computer recently, and someone suggested to me that I update BIOS. I'm on the Gigabyte website for my GA-870A-UD3 motherboard, and it's showing me results for several different types of revisions. I can't find any indication of what my motherboard's revision is, however. When I use 'msinfo32', it states that my BIOS Version/Date is 'Award Software International, Inc. FD, 3/9/2011.

So do I just select the highest revision (in my case it would be 3.1)? Or do I have to select the specific revision to my motherboard? And where could I find this if I did?
