What's holding me back?

Hi guys, I bought a GTX 780ti the other day, and installed it into my PC yesterday. I haven't actually had a chance to play any demanding games yet as I reformatted my PC and with Battlefield 4 being 25GB, it takes a while to download haha.

EVGA GTX 780ti 3GB SC
i5 2550k 4.1GHz
8GB DDR3
Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 Mobo (I think it's mini ATX?)
Alpine 750W Quiet Silent PC Power Supply
Mid-case

Now I've only upgraded my GPU, with my old one being an AMD 7950. Back when I had that card, I always felt as if I wasn't getting as good performance as others were. Hopefully my 780ti will fix this, but on the off chance I'm still getting similar FPS, are there other components that are holding me back? Would anything in the above list be bottlenecking me, or stopping me from getting optimal FPS?

I intend to replace the power supply in the next few days, after discovering the one I currently have is utterly crap.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah running a 30 dollar power supply(seems to be the going price) on a 700+ dollar video card is just asking for problems.

Does that thing even have the required pci-e connectors for the video card?

I want you to run your games with something like afterburner or GPU logging gpu usage, if the gpu usage is low, chances are the cpu is holding you back. If the gpu usage is maxed out, chances are the cpu is holding you back.

Both parts should be VERY powerful for most users. Some games are more cpu or gpu demanding than others, but I would have guessed you would generally have a great experience with your setup(with the exception to the constant fear of the power supply failing).

EDIT @ Jacob McIntosh, I do not think the board and cpu change would make a huge difference in games. Without as much competition, Intel seems to not be pushing things that fast.

It had two 6-pin connectors, so I had to buy a 6+2-pin (I think it's called?) and the card works.

I was thinking of purchasing these:

Would you guys recommend these components, or are there better ones for a similar price? Preferably not more expensive, I haven't got vast amounts to spend unfortunately.

If these parts are sufficient, could I expect a decent performance increase?

Thanks again.

You don't HAVE to upgrade your CPU.

The problem is the cheap £20 PSU that is nowhere near a 750W PSU, more like 450W. As a result of the power draw & cheap components inside it, It's running at almost near full capacity & it's struggling, attested by the poor performance your getting.

As to the PSU, the EVGA Supernova G2 750W (850W version isn't much more) is the one to get for that budget.
