I would like to play games (starcraft 2, diablo 3, grid 2, tomb raider, dota 2, watch dogs) on max settings 1920x1080 and i need help picking a graphics card.

My specs are:
cpu: i5 4670
mobo: Asus H87M-PRO
ram: 2x4Gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram
ssd: samsung 840 pro 128Gb
hdd: 1Tb wd green

from nvidia the highest i can go locally is gtx 760 (msi hawk edition)
from amd i can get the r9 280x Asus directCU II

its not much of a money defference (really small) and the amd looks better all around spec wise. Is there a quality edge to nvidia? Or why the small price difference?

The 280 sits just between the 760 and the 770. None are "much" better then the other. You'll looking at a 10fps difference at 1080 gaming between the 770 and 760 and the 280x is right in the middle. This does exclude games like Crysis 3 and Watch Dogs that still have issues with AMD GPUs.

Keep in mind the power difference between the cards as well. A 760 will use a lot less power then the 280.

Thank you all for your opinions i will choose the gtx 760 for the "stability" and power usage. I also don't really need more than 2gigs of vram (i won't go over 1080p anytime soon) Nvidias marketing also won me over and the msi hawk edition has a backplate which in my opinion is a nice bonus! TY all!! ^^
