This is my mother's HP laptop & I have tried going into the OS menu & I tried a few things I am familiar with but they didn't work , however I am an amateur so not sure if I missed something. As soon as I start my laptop up it goes to a black HP screen and tells me to restart and that is the only option I have. I do not have a recovery disk and cannot download anything on the laptop because I cannot access the internet or anything else. Can I burn one from a Mac for her computer or can I order just a windows 8 disk? She does not care about anything on the computer, she just wants it working again :)  PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

And this time around please burn your recovery disks. If the Harddrives fails, you lose the restore option too since its on the drive...

It's my mother's computer and she doesn't know much of anything when it comes to stuff like this :-/ So when I get into it, it says something about the recovery being damaged and I need to install windows. I was told by someone to make sure it was booting from windows first but when I get into the boot manager Windows is not even on the list. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get a Windows installation disk some how lol. She told me there wasn't anything at all she was worried about losing on there, Thank Goodness! lol frustrating!
