Please HELP!!! Powered laptop off during windows update & now I can't windows

This is my mother's HP laptop & I have tried going into the OS menu & I tried a few things I am familiar with but they didn't work , however I am an amateur so not sure if I missed something. As soon as I start my laptop up it goes to a black HP screen and tells me to restart and that is the only option I have. I do not have a recovery disk and cannot download anything on the laptop because I cannot access the internet or anything else. Can I burn one from a Mac for her computer or can I order just a windows 8 disk? She does not care about anything on the computer, she just wants it working again :) PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

It's my mother's computer and she doesn't know much of anything when it comes to stuff like this :-/ So when I get into it, it says something about the recovery being damaged and I need to install windows. I was told by someone to make sure it was booting from windows first but when I get into the boot manager Windows is not even on the list. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get a Windows installation disk some how lol. She told me there wasn't anything at all she was worried about losing on there, Thank Goodness! lol Grrrrrrrr......so frustrating!
