My setup is gigabyte z87hd3 motherboard, 2x4gb pny ram, 1tb wd hdd, 120gb kingston ssd, nvidia geforce gtx 660, i3 4340k cpu, thermaltake smart series 850w psu.

My setup worked perfectly fine until today. All the sudden, my computer won't power up at all. If I unplug the cpu power cable from the motherboard, it runs for 2 to 3 sec, shuts down and repeats. If the entire system is configured properly it doesnt power on period. Purchased a new psu today thinking thay was the issue, but no avail. Both psu do the same exact thing. No visible damage, scorch marks or popped capacitors. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Given the exact issues currently I am leaning towards this being a motherboard issue. Hoping I dont have to purchase a new mobo. Thanks everyone.

It' probably either motherboard or something connected to the motherboard that is seriously electrically malfunctioning - such as a shorting wire, badly malfunctioning device, or even a RAM stick, or a drive or USB device. To rule out those other possible culprits try to boot the motherboard as barebones as possible with just one stick of RAM, video, CPU and power and see if it fires up. If not then chances are good the motherboard is at fault.

Tried this. That is what I was afraid of. Even with nothing plugged in it does the same thing. I came to the assumption something failed where the power connects to the cpu because when it isn't plugged in period, it at least tries to turn itself on and powers for a second. With it plugged in properly, absolutely nothing happens. Does anyone know if gigabyte mobos have a warranty? Thanks.
